Do you know how long ago coins were invented or how many billions the world's largest bank has? The publisher who brought you The Bug Book & Bottle (1987) has returned with The Money Book & Bank, a kit that includes a bank and a paperback compendium of money basics and trivia for the elementary school age crowd.

Both authors have solid backgrounds in financial writing and editing. The book covers a wide variety of topics - from the history of money to down-to-earth suggestions on earning, banking, budgeting and spending it. A brief overview of taxes and the economy along with ideas for reaching out to worthy causes is included. Content is presented in a tempting manner with catchy headings and colourful, cartoon-style sketches. A table of contents with subheadings allows information to be located quickly. One problem is the book's rather awkward 14 cm × 18 cm size.

The bank has been designed to resemble a book for easy concealment and has separate coin compartments.

This kit is highly recommended but is more suitable for personal than library use.
