GRANDPA DAN'S TOBOGGAN RIDE
Reid, Suzan
Volume 21 Number 1
Nicki begs for just one more toboggan ride, but Grandpa Dan is freezing, grumpy and wants to go home. Reluctantly, he bends over to give her a push, steps on his extra-long scarf, slips, and lands on the back of the extra-long toboggan with Nicki on his lap. The ride of a lifetime begins! Grandpa Dan can't see and can't steer the "confounded contraption" as they zoom down the hill and through the town. Astonished passengers are gathered along the way as they race toward the hilarious climax at the bottom of the hill. This is Suzan Reid's first book and hopefully not her last. Eugenic Fernandes' colourful, energetic illustrations capture the havoc and humour of this delightful adventure. Highly recommended.
