Volume 21 Number 4 1993 September Judy Ann Sadler gives instructions for fourteen easy-to-make dolls. The dolls are made from simple, easily gathered materials that everyone has around the house. Paper, nuts, pencils, yarn, bits of fabric, noodles and buttons are used to create tiny dolls for small hands to play with. No sewing is required. Glue or wrapping, twisting or tying hold the dolls together. Dolls has a table of contents and a general information section that gives suggestions for the face, hair and accessories. Each doll's instructions are complete on one or two facing pages. The materials needed for each doll are shown at the beginning of the instructions. The directions are easy to follow and are illustrated with simple colour drawings. Younger children should be able to follow the illustrations and complete the doll. Many of the dolls' instructions are followed by other fun ideas to try. This inexpensive little book and a box of simple materials are sure to keep a youngster busy, first creating and then playing with the dolls. Joanne Robertson is a teacher in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
