Author Patricia Godwin and artist Kitty Macaulay worked in perfect harmony in order to express the colour feelings of the young children in the story. Each page expresses a colour mood - like red. On the red page we see an upset child who is obviously mad at his brother. A green day is a beautiful page in which the author writes about rustling of leaves and ants busy in the grass. The purple day is most disappointing as the colour in the artwork is not clearly visible and I think a young child would have a difficult time identifying what colour this page represents. I would recommend this book for young children who are learning about colours. The story is a subtle and refreshing way for children to identify colours.
