Volume 21 Number 4 1993 September Following their alphabet and counting books, this father/daughter team has created another concept book. Rainbows under the Sea is about colours. It also introduces prepositions and some marine life, although the portrayal of the Plasticine sea creatures is too fanciful to satisfy most young "marine scientists." In this story, Mirium the mermaid hears that there is something special at the end of the rainbow, so she sets out to find it. She searches the sea, passing many technicoloured sea creatures along the way, until she finally discovers the splendid surprise. Young readers may be inspired by the colourful Plasticine art to create their own imaginary sea creatures and plants. This book would be useful with children in Primary classes learning colours and exploring the theme of the sea.
