Raffi's latest book in the "Raffi Songs to Read" series is  Spider on the Floor. Many readers will be familiar with his popular and humorous song about a spider slowly crawling up over various body parts and the feelings experienced as the spider proceeds on his journey. Children thoroughly enjoy this humorous song and will eagerly chime in with the repetition.

True Kelley's bright and humorous illustrations add a wonderful new dimension to this old favourite. Kelley's spider is a cute, furry little fellow who certainly could mean no harm but who manages to evoke quite a reaction as he climbs upward. As he climbs, the spider spins his web ensnaring a wide variety of creatures from mice to moose, from bats to dinosaurs. The final illustration captures the fun of the song and vividly portrays for young readers just what happens after the spider jumps off his latest victim.

This is an excellent book to share with young children. The print is large enough that a group can read along with the leader. The music is included at the end of the text.

Young children will read and will laugh at  Spider on the Floor over and over.
