MY BLUE SUITCASE

Volume 22 Number 3
My Blue Suitcase is about a suitcase that travels alone on a variety of transportation modes, such as boat, train, plane, rocket, but always returns home to the little girl. The simple text employs a number of font sizes, and the print takes on the contour of the transportation, i.e., opposite the boat the text is wavy, but opposite the rocket it is vertical. The pictures are a disapointment, however, as they are uninspired both in concept and in design. Executed as monotype prints, they are coloured with a deep blue wash, and lack clarity. This little concept book is suitable for individual use only. Its small size (3 1/2" square) makes it inappropriate for classroom or library collections. It is similar to the Annikins series of books brought out by Annick Press, and would be more appropriate for a loot bag or as a stocking stuffer. Offers limited appeal.
