STOP THE PRESSES, IDA MAE!

Volume 22 Number 4
A wonderful sequel to Blakeslee's first Ida Mae book, Stop the Presses, Ida Mae is the story of twelve-year-old Ida Mae's growing up. Readers follow Ida Mae from triumph (getting an astrology column of her own in the school newspaper) to disaster, when she makes some very bad predictions in her tarot readings and ultimately loses her column, to triumph more when not only does she get her column back, but she also falls in love for the first time. Stop the Presses is completely up to date with references and terminology that will appeal to Blakeslee's readers. Stop the Presses is well written with-developed characters that readers can empathize with. It is an excellent read. Fans of Ida Mae Evans Eats Ants will be especially pleased to read more of Ida Mae's adventures. Readers unfamiliar with Ida Mae will quickly grow to love her. Highly recommended. Michele F. Kallio is a former teacher and librarian in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick
