excerpt:
It takes talent to make things seem as effortless as they do in poet Robert Heidbreder's new book, Lickety-Split. As the above text excerpt demonstrates, Heidbreder makes poetry seem simple. In reality, however, he has carefully selected (or invented) each word because of the rhythm and sound that it adds to this book. As with all of Heidbreder's work, Lickety-Split is an enjoyable book that has fun playing with language. Lickety-Split is definitely intended to be read aloud. In doing so, the reader gains a greater appreciation for the care Heidbreder has invested into his word and sound selections. Read aloud, Lickety-Split creates a soundscape that is both intriguing and invigorating. Perhaps above all though, it is simply fun. Recommended.
