excerpt:

“Sneaky,” Mr. Entwistle said. “I usually charge an arm and a leg to make a television appearance.” He raised his hat to the cameras, then he turned to me. “Do I need to say it?” he asked.

“Say what?”

“RUN!”

I bolted past the broken gate and down the hall. What else could I do? My life had become too absurd to make any rational decisions. We rounded the corner. About a dozen officers were waiting at the bottom of the stairs. They were moving forward cautiously, guns drawn out, all decked out in gas masks and bulletproof vests.

In the second of the Night Runner books, teenage vampire Zack is living with best vamp friend Charlie and guardian Ophelia in secrecy. Zack is being chased by older vampires, his uncle Max has disappeared, and a new beast from Hell is killing vampires in a gruesome manner.

The book is set in Peterborough, ON, which adds a certain Canadian feel to this addition to the teen vampire genre. It is well written, the characters are well developed, and it is even better than Night Runner, the first book in the series.

Highly Recommended.
