excerpt:

Stanley knew he wasn’t supposed to chase the cat.

But this was Stanley’s house! It wasn’t supposed to have a cat. And who invited that cat to live here anyway?”

All of Stanley the dog’s many young friends will enjoy this humorous tale about Stanley getting to know the newest member of the household. After many failed attempts, Stanley finally succumbs to the purring wiles of the new kitten. The pictures by Millbrook, Ontario artist Bill Slavin, who has illustrated the rest of the Stanley series, are big and colourful and stretch across double pages.

internal art     Stanley’s Little Sister would be an excellent read-aloud story, with lots of animal noises (barks, screeches and purrs). Linda Bailey is an experienced children’s author with more than twenty books to her credit. Originally from Winnipeg, MB, she now lives in Vancouver, BC. Her dialog is simple and appropriate and makes for easy reading.
