Music from the Sky is a touching story about a young girl and her grandfather spending time together making a flute. The pictures by Stephen Taylor are realistic, colourful and could almost tell the entire story without any of the words. They create an overall warm and loving feeling in the book which allows the text to tell the story of a special relationship between grandfather and granddaughter. The overall sentiment of the story is very similar to Robert Munsch’s Love You Forever, a children’s book which has a great appeal to adults for its sentimental story. Music from the Sky may not be the story children want read to them on a nightly basis; however, it could become a story that stays in their library for years to come. Recommended. Michelle Lawrence is a music therapist and educator in Winnipeg, MB.
