Animal lovers, both the very young and old, will rejoice with this new offering by Nascimbeni. Each animal is shown in an easy to identify black silhouette on the left side of the book, with the right side of the page portraying the animal and family members in an unsophisticated habitat, with a gentle wash of colours. At the bottom of this page, the sound each animal makes, its home and its meal are identified.

For example, the horse is pictured in basic black form, a caricature, rather than specific in detail. The opposite side of the two-page layout shows the mare, the stallion and the foal. Underneath are three circles entitled My Sound: "I Neigh"; My Home: a "stable"; My Meal: "grass, hay, bran mash." This simple, but effective style will be especially appealing to toddlers, and, at the same time, the information could be geared to younger readers of school age and discussed. The limited text is very clear, using lower case lettering, and will be very helpful and accessible for those emerging readers who might discover this information independently. There is no particular order to the animals presented, and they include wild, as well as domestic, animals from across the world and in many differing habitats.
Nascimbeni is known for her warm, quirky illustrations in a wide variety of books and series written with others, such as "What if..?", Rude Mule and Shy Edward, and several offerings on her own, all geared to the very young. This prolific creator has penned and illustrated an innovative approach to discovering and celebrating animals of all kinds.
