Mary Lambert has come out with a new CD, Worms and Dirt, that features songs written and sung by Mary Lambert as well as some old favourites, including a wetlands version of “Down By the Bay” and the familiar “Rockin’ Robin.” The theme of this compilation is taking care of our world. Without being preachy or putting message above music, Worms and Dirt features fun music that is simple enough for children to sing-a-long. As a matter of fact, Lambert has produced a CD that includes an online booklet of lyrics. This CD is meant to be an interactive. Worms and Dirt is not a CD where children will passively sit and listen. I found myself humming along to the music and joining in on the refrains. The melodic, simple, and upbeat songs will appeal to the preschool/kindergarten crowd. A great addition to your personal or school library. Recommended. Barb Taylor is the school librarian at St. Boniface School in Calgary, AB.
