excerpt:
The Pirate Girls Treasure dares to break the mold of what a picture book can be by incorporating a new medium Origami. As the story unfolds, Peyton and Hilary Leung weave the steps to not only make a paper-folding boat but also transform it into a T-shirt. The addition of origami works to give the story greater dimension by giving young readers the opportunity to become active participants. Furthermore, The Pirate Girls Treasure leaves young girls with the encouraging words that they, too, are brave and capable to go on their very own adventures. Recommended. Inderjit Deogun is a poet in Mississauga, ON.
