I'm Bored, by Michael Ian Black and Debbie Ridpath Ohi, tackles the familiar topic of boredom in a creative and refreshing way – by turning the tables on the reader, not once but twice. The brilliance of this picture book is having the little girl act out all the ways that kids aren't boring because it will prompt young readers to do the same. The challenge will be for them to create an entirely different list. In addition, Ohi's illustrations aren't bogged down but are as playful as the text. She beautifully depicts the little girl's imagination by allowing it to run wild on the page. I'm Bored is a tongue-in-cheek book that should be part of every parent's arsenal in the fight against boredom.
