excerpt:
If Kids Ruled the World is the newest title from author Linda Bailey, creator of more than twenty books for children including the Stanley series. If Kids Ruled the World is a delightful and fun look at what would happen if kids were in charge, including: eating birthday cake every day, having pet kangaroos and elephants, and a treehouse in every tree. Each page explores another new and incredible possibility of what would happen if children made the rules. The full-colour illustrations by David Huyck are dynamic and bright. They capture and enhance the sense of imagination presented in the story. The story lacks rhythm and rhyme which would have improved the read-aloud quality, but each page is filled with wild wishes to which many children will be able to relate. Adding to the reading experience, children will enjoy thinking of their own ideas of what they would choose if they ruled the world. The vibrant illustrations and spirit of imagination will make this a delightful reading experience for young readers. The story is fun, and the illustrations are wonderful. Recommended.
