Brightly coloured collages created by Lorena Siminovich, a gifted artist who has illustrated many children's books, illuminate the 10 double spread pages. Young listeners who have had beach experience will enjoy finding shells, starfish, sand dollars, anemones and even a big green turtle in On My Beach. This book is exceptionally well made, with the simple but attractive finger puppet firmly ensconced in the back cover (and, therefore, likely, if not guaranteed, to resist rough treatment from curious little fingers). Highly Recommended.

On My Beach is one of a series of 12 sturdy and appealing little board books designed by Sara Gillingham and illustrated by Lorena Siminovich. Every book features one creature as it lives in its home environment. The author designer has cleverly placed a hole in the front cover of each book from which there emerges a finger puppet representing the main character. On My Beach features a bright orange felt crab who tells the story of his day. Adult readers will enjoy taking turns with young listeners as they manipulate the "crab" who talks about his life on the beach. Discussion about times on the beach and what might be seen there will surely ensue when adults and children share this delightfully interactive book.
