Waiting is hard, and, while patience might be a virtue, it�s not a trait that many of us come by naturally. Waiting can be particularly hard for young children. Little Badger longs for snow, and he is tired of waiting. Badger�s supportive friends suggest all sorts of strange ways to try and hurry up the arrival of snow, and they cheer up Badger in the process. In the end, though, as Hedgehog reminds everyone, sometimes all you really can do is wait. Marsha Diane Arnold�s text is sweet and simple, and while Badger longs for the arrival of snow, the story�s gentle message can easily be applied to many experiences in a child�s life. Waiting is hard, but with the support of loving friends and family, patience can be learned and developed. Renata Liwska�s animal characters are softly-textured and sweetly furry, with highly expressive faces that charmingly compliment the limited text and add an almost nostalgic gentleness to the story. Whatever young readers are waiting impatiently for, Waiting for Snow and its endearing cast of characters will hopefully bring comfort and encouragement. Recommended.
