Each spread features a single verb (stretch, dive, race, etc.) which is acted out by an animal on one side of the spread, and a machine on the other. Its a clever idea, one which will likely appeal to many little readers who are often drawn to animals and machines like cars and trucks. Printed on sturdy cardboard, this board book version of Animachines will likely survive the attentions of enthusiastic little hands, and its compact size makes it perfect for reading on the go. Simple but definitely child-friendly, Animachines is an enjoyable little board book for the youngest of readers. Recommended. Jane Whittingham is a children's librarian in British Columbia.
