excerpt:
Our Love Grows tells the story of a young panda, Pip, and his mother having a conversation about how he has grown bigger over time. He asks her, Mama, when will I be big? (p. 2), and she responds by telling him the various ways in which he is bigger than he was before. Blanky covered all of you, (p. 13), she tells him. The mother panda also talks about how time has passed, in Flowers bloom[ing] and fall[ing] and pine cones tumbl[ing] down... (pp. 16-17). The mother gently speaks on and on about how Pip has grown and time has passed. But, like Pip, her love for him has grown over time, as well. Pignataro's Our Love Grows is a sweet tale of time passing and love growing. It would be a perfect book to be read before bed or to express to a young reader how time passes, and how love can become bigger and bigger. Highly Recommended. Nikita Griffioen is completing her high school English teacher certification and hopes to write and illustrate books of her own.
