Writing for Children Competition
announces its first$1,500 Prize

Eligible Writers
- Janet Lunn
- Kevin Major
- Tololwa Mollel
Eligible Entries
- Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who have not been published in book format and who do not have a contract with a publisher
How to Submit Entries
- Fiction or non-fiction for children up to 1500 words, English language
- Not previously published in any format
Deadline
- Typed or computer-printed (no faxes or e-mails), double-spaced, numbered, titled, single-sided on 81/2 x 11 paper, not stapled
- A separate cover letter written in point-form with full name, address, phone number, title of entry, number of pages of entry, and whether submission is fiction or non-fiction
- Author's name should not appear anywhere on the actual entry
- A stamped self-addressed envelope must be included for return of o manuscript and results
- $15 fee per entry, cheque or money order made payable to The Writers' Union of Canada
Send entry with $15 fee to:
- Post-marked no later than Canada Book Day, April 23, 1997
- Winners will be announced on Canada Day.
