excerpt:
On Monday Bing opened a cooking school. Everyone came to learn how to cook and bake.
On Tuesday Chutney arrived in the big city. She went to every theater and asked for a job.
Everyone applauded her beautiful dancing. The praise almost went to her head.
The author and illustrator of Bing and Chutney has produced other
successful picture books, including Toilet Tales and Would You
Love Me? This is an imaginative little story about two friends - Bing,
a pig, and Chutney, an elephant. They lived happily together until Chutney
decided she wanted to be a famous dancer. Bing said goodbye sadly, but,
since she, herself, loved to cook, she opened a cooking school to teach
her friends to cook also. Both Bing and Chutney did well at their new
careers, but they missed each other. Soon Chutney came back for a reunion,
and all was happiness as their friends gathered for a party.
Little children will love this book. The pastel coloured illustrations are
humorous, with little details that delight young listeners or readers,
details such as bubbles overflowing a bathtub, Chutney's ballet slippers,
Bing's huge cake pushing open the oven door, the joyous reunion of the two
friends and their animal guests.
Highly Recommended.
