One can imagine the author reading to a group of children, showing them the illustrations and having a difficult time to make himself heard and keep the situation under control between bursts of the children's hysterical laughter. Containing elements of "Jack and the Beanstalk" (the mustache playing the role of the beanstalk) and of the fairy tale where parents send their son out into the world to trade their cow for food, the story will be loved by children for its lighthearted silliness. This stodgy reviewer found it altogether "too"silly but admired the imagination and artistic minds that produced it. On an even more pedantic note, I prefer the English spelling "moustache" to the more modern American "mustache."
