The Lobster Kids' Guide to Exploring Toronto is a complete listing
of places to go and things to do in Toronto and vicinity. In twelve
chapters, local attractions, festivals, museums, farms, zoos, green
spaces, historical sites, neighborhood activities and places to play, to
learn and to enjoy music, theatre and dance are described. For each place,
a rating (from one to three lobsters), a list of facilities and/or
activities (indicated by icons) and a box highlighting seasons, times,
cost, getting there, what's nearby and similar attractions, are provided.
A twelve-month directory of events with phone numbers and website
information is included. The book has a fairly complete index. For
example, Centreville Amusement Park and Toronto Island Park are indexed,
not just Centre Island, a common term of reference.
This guide, which is well-bound and printed on good quality bond paper, is
a "must buy" for every children's library in the Toronto vicinity and for
anyone planning to vacation in the area with children.
Highly Recommended.
Joan C. Simpson, a former resident of Toronto, is now a teacher-librarian in Winnipeg, MB.
