Pippin wagged her tail and rolled
the kitten over with her paw. The
kitten dashed away. Pippin raced after
him. Sproing! The kitten sprang out from behind a
tree and chased Pippin through the ferns.

This is New Brunswick author K.V. Johansen's third picture book for children. This latest humourous tale will not disappoint Pippin fans. When Pippin brings home a lost kitten, Mabel does her best to find its owner. Pippin and the kitten have a lot of fun playing together. When the kitten's owner arrives to pick up his pet, Pippin tries unsuccessfully to hide his new friend in the attic. When Mabel sends the kitten away, Pippin is so lonesome that Mabel finally gives in and Pudding becomes part of the family. Pudding proves that there's always room for one more, even in a little house. I noticed immediately that, although the text font is the same as the other "Pippin" books, the spacing problem has been corrected. The distracting large spaces between the letters are gone, and this makes the text much more pleasing to the eye. Lum has done her usual job, using watercolour and marker, to bring these colourful pictures alive. Pet lovers and Pippin fans will welcome this addition to their collections.
