Having originally written the story for her own children, Fernandes uses mice as the characters. The baby mouse (whose toy is a cat) cries so much when she is left alone that her room fills up with tears and her bed is washed out to sea. There, she romps with seahorses, crabs, puffins and starfish until she falls to sleep. Her brave mother sails out to sea to bring her back to the safety of her room.

      Kim Fernandes has done a masterful job once again with her three dimensional Fimo illustrations: the mouse house is a teapot; the picture on the wall is a used stamp; the bed is a track shoe. The characters are appealing, and the colours are vivid. The water looks as if it is really flowing as the little mouse goes on her dream adventure.

      Toddlers and their parents will love this book as will children who are busy practicing reading and putting their own "babies" down for naps.
