Originally published as a picture book in 2007, Grumpy Bird has been made available to a younger, "independent" page-turning audience via a smaller board book format. The 2007 book's large 26 x 26 cm format has been reduced to 17 x 17 cm, but, of course, the thicker board pages have increased the book's bulkiness. The contents, with the exception of minor text formatting changes and page croppings, are identical to those in the 2007 work, and consequently CM readers are referred to the review of the original. Since the 2007 picture book's large size virtually mandated the intervention of an older reader in order to share the book's contents with the younger end of the book's "viewership," the smaller board book format makes Grumpy Bird much more accessible to toddlers wanting to independently review the book.
