excerpt: (from My Baby Bother and Me and My Mother and Me)

"Here's what I do to make my baby brother laugh:
play peek-a-boo
play pat-a-cake
tickle his toes
put on a puppet show

My mother and I love being at home together. Here's what we like to do the most (circle the pictures):"

image Scrapbooks and photo albums have always recorded special family moments. This series of "Memory Scrapbooks for Kids" by Jane Drake and Ann Love helps parents to capture the thoughts and feelings of a child and to record these childhood moments that pass so quickly.

The strength of these memory scrapbooks is that they invite family conversation and the recorded responses belong to the child. Parents might be surprised at some of the ideas that are expressed about a parent or a sibling from the child's perspective. The 'easy to complete' checklist format of each book is appropriate for the intended age group and time saving for parents. Additional questions can be included as well as extra pages for other drawings or scripted anecdotes recounted by the child. Each book also includes a family tree and spaces for the child to draw or paste mementos of special events. These can then be stored in the pocket inside the back cover. The cartoon-like illustrations by Scot Ritchie add humour and visual appeal. He includes an inclusive assortment of people and situations.

Co-authors of other children's books such as The Kids Guide to the Millenium and The Kids Summer Games Book, Jane Drake and Ann Love have provided an interactive series of books which provide opportunities for parents and young children to spend time together and create a child's memory keepsake. Each book in the series will become a special keepsake to accompany other family scrapbooks and photo albums.
