Panda Opposites
Panda Opposites
Up, down. Near, far…awake, asleep
This adorable board book is perfect for the youngest of readers. Pandas are captured by Suzi Eszterhas’ stunning photography in up-close, detailed imagery. Each spread captures a set of opposites. There are eight sets of opposites throughout the book. The back cover of the book explains “a portion of the royalties from sales of this book will be donated to Pandas International to help protect pandas around the world.” This fact would be an excellent way to create interest in older readers to research more about plight pandas face on our planet.
The text is written in uppercase black lettering. It is the same size except that the word “big” is slightly larger than the rest. There is no punctuation used in this selection, and only a single word appears on each page. Some of the pandas are cubs while others are full-grown. The most exciting photo is the panda photographed straight on with its mouth wide open, showcasing its teeth. On the opposite page, the same panda has his mouth closed, seemingly slightly grinning at the reader.
