What is Technology?
Technology is the tools that help us do work. There are many kinds of technology all around us. It helps make life easier, safer, and more fun.
A soccer ball is a technology that makes life more fun! Soccer shoes make it easier to run and kick the ball.
Crabtree Publishing has added another group of four books to its “Full STEAM Ahead” series. The new group, “Technology Time”, includes the titles Parts Work Together, Technology and You!, Technology Then and Now, and What is Technology?.
Like other books in the series, What is Technology?” is packed with colourful photos and limited text. The format of the book is very visually appealing. Photos include children and adults of different genders and ethnicities engaged with common types of technologies, such as pencils, crayons, computer tablets, smoke detectors, and bike helmets.
Before, during, and after prompts are included on the verso of the Table of Contents page. “STEAM Notes for Educators” are included on the last page of the book. Also included are “Words to Know” and a short Index.
Worksheets to support the activities in the “Technology Time” series are found at www.crabtreebooks.com/resources/printables. These worksheets help students build a growth mindset. The link to www.crabtreeplus.com/fullsteamahead is not working at the time of this review.
Whether purchased individually or as a part of the set, What is Technology? should engage young learners in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
