I Hope You’re Listening
A seventeen-year-old vanishes into thin air. His family and friends have no idea where he might have gone. He leaves behind no trace, no clues.
Or does he?
Almost a million people are reported missing across North America every year. If we pay attention, if we work together, maybe we can bring some of them home.
I am the Seeker, and this is Radio Silent.
When Delia “Dee” Skinner was young, her best friend, Sibby, was kidnapped while they were playing in the forest behind their houses. While Dee escaped, Sibby was never found. Dee’s survivor’s guilt has led her to become the Seeker, the host of a popular podcast called Radio Silent which helps solve missing persons cases. Her loyal Laptop Detective Agency (as her followers call themselves) work together to help find missing persons. When a young girl, Layla, is kidnapped from Sibby’s old home, Dee is forced to confront her own past and try to help solve not just this case, but Sibby’s as well.
Readers of I Hope You’re Listening will be compelled to find out whether both Layla and Sibby are both found safe. This novel has many twists and turns which will hold readers’ interest to the very end. The romantic subplot of Dee’s falling for her very first girlfriend, Sarah, is also very sweet, and this same-sex relationship is portrayed as any other teenage romance would be.
I Hope You’re Listening is for readers who enjoy mystery novels. The plotline moves quickly, and the outcome is not one that is easily guessed. The dialogue is realistic, and the characters of Dee and Sarah are well-developed. Lastly, the same-sex relationship is sweet, loving, and very well written.
