Bailey the Bat and the Tangled Moose
Bailey the Bat and the Tangled Moose
Bailey the Bat fluttered over to the rope and tried to untangle it, but Bailey’s claws were too small and the rope was too tangled.
Grant Lawrence’s Bailey the Bat and the Tangled Moose is a story about a brave and persistent little brown bat and an unauthorized trip away from the roost to investigate the source of a loud, sad sound in the forest. Both Bailey the Bat and Matty the Moose disobeyed their elders, with consequences; however, the outcome would have been grim for Matty the Moose had Bailey stayed in their roost.
This beautifully written, suspenseful story provides readers with lessons about perseverance, asking for help when we need it, and the dangers of not heeding the advice of our elders. Bailey the Bat and the Tangled Moose is an ideal shared read with younger students, one which provides opportunities to discuss themes, while also being an independent read for more advanced young readers.
Noémie Gionet Landry’s intricate and colourful illustrations ideally accompany the story. The images burst from the pages, capturing the characters’ emotions and personalities as well as the thematic elements throughout the book.
