Glam Prix Racers

Glam Prix Racers is the first book in a new graphic novel trilogy from the team that brought you the “Snazzy Cat Capers” series. This time around they are focused on the world of competitive racing with a magical twist.

Meet the Glam Prix racing crew: Mio the mermaid, Flipp the fairy, Unee the unicorn, Deelux the dragon, and Sooki the sprite. Together with their out-of-this-world motos, they are on a quest to win Glittergear Island’s prestigious Glam Prix Cup. The Glam Prix Cup consists of a series of three races held on three different magical realms. The team with the most points at the end will be named champion.

In Race One, the Glam Prix Racers must go head-to-head with the Vroombots and the Cyclops Camper Crew in the Fancy Forest. However, not everyone is playing fairly. The Vroombots, on a mission to win no matter what the cost, decide to sabotage the race by stealing the island’s sparklecharge, magical sparkles that power the motos.

While Flipp investigates the missing sparklecharge, Mio and the rest of the crew go on a fantastical journey through the Fancy Forest, taking selfies with a ghost garden gnome, befriending an ogre, zooming through an infinite swirl tree, and confronting a mob of hangries (hungry, angry fairies). Through it all, the team members are able to use their creativity and ingenuity to find a way to restore the sparklecharge and win the first race.

Described as “Mario Kart meets My Little Pony”, Glam Prix Racers is an out-of-this-world graphic novel full of magical characters and fun escapades. The crew, itself, is adorable, and they each embody the virtues of intelligence, creativity, daring, and speed, but, most of all, they embrace the fact that teamwork really does make the dream work. They each come together and use their specific skills to make a difference, which ultimately allows them to achieve their goals. In the end, the Glam Prix Racers are the true stars of this graphic novel. The fantastic illustrations by Neil Hooson, full of bright, bold colours, make this story come to life, and they perfectly highlight the action of the novel. They also have a vintage video game feel to them which adds to their appeal. Overall, Glam Prix Racers is a fun, fast-paced romp through magical realms. What more could you ask for?
