The Land Puffin
The Land Puffin
Pete was an unusual parrot. He wanted to be a puffin and live by the sea.
The Land Puffin is the adorable tale of Pete the parrot who wants to do something quite unusual. He wants to be a puffin and is very determined to do so. Pete is quite brave; he takes a chance, heads to the sea and finds a group of friendly puffins. He tries their food and their lifestyle out but quickly realizes that puffin life is not for him and probably not for many of us either!
Pete knows he is different from the rest of the puffins, and, in fact, he likes himself just as he is. He is not discouraged; he goes off in search of something new once again and finds the perfect place for himself. He finds a lighthouse. It’s warm and dry, with a view of the sea, and there are lots of puffins nearby. Pete stays true to himself and does not settle for anything less than he deserves. His perseverance and determination help him find the perfect home among the puffins.
Lori Doody’s whimsical illustrations bring her story to life. They are bright, cheery and highlight a story told in the traditional Newfoundland style. The Land Puffin is a lovely story that encourages readers to accept differences within themselves and others.
