Brady Brady and the Santa Search
Brady Brady and the Santa Search
Brady fell silent. He had written a letter to Santa asking for a big red metal hockey net, but he had forgotten to mail it. And now it was Christmas Eve. How could he tell Santa what he wanted? Was it too late? Brady was so worried he didn’t yell the team cheer as loudly as he usually did. “We’ve got the power, we’ve got the might, Santa is a hockey fan, and he’ll be busy tonight!”
Brady Brady and the Santa Search is the latest junior picture book in the long running "Brady Brady" sports series. After melancholy sets in when he realizes he forgot to send his letter to Santa, Brady Brady thinks he sees Santa at his hockey game, gets distracted, and then misses the goal at the last second. Was that really Santa and at his hockey game of all places? He and his teammates search for Santa—finding candy canes, sleigh parts and footprints—in the hockey rink, but no Santa. That night in his backyard rink, Brady Brady uses a squirt bottle full of juice to write Santa his gift request in big bold letters that will be seen from the sky. A clever use of the hockey motif.
Illustrations include compelling characters and background details (including a hiding Santa) that will offer its readers extra reading layers of enjoyment. Brady Brady and the Santa Search is a conventional story about the magic of Santa with a sport’s twist. Nonetheless, the story moves at a fast pace and will appeal to hockey and Santa fans alike.
