The Rainbow Hunters
The Rainbow Hunters
“Where are you going?” asked Liz, who was swinging
upside down from the big tree in her garden.
“We’re going rainbow hunting,” Will replied.
“Really? You’ll need a wagon, then.”
“A wagon? Asked Bill. “What for?”
“To carry the treasure back,” said Liz.
“There’s a treasure?”
“Of course! There’s always a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.”
And that’s how Liz joined the adventure.
The Rainbow Hunters tells the story of a group of young children who go on a rainbow hunting adventure while anticipating a share of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Together, they see beautiful sights and explore nature on their way to find the end of the rainbow. As they travel together, they also imagine what they will do with the gold. From wanting to buy the bank to diving in a pool of candy, the children have great plans. The story reminds us of the simple pleasures of how joyous a nature walk with friends is and helps us realize that, sometimes, the biggest treasures are the ones among us already.
Rainbow Hunters is beautifully illustrated and features diverse characters working together on the adventure. Representation of diverse children is important in children’s picture books as it helps children see themselves in the books they read. This book will make a wonderful addition to classrooms and libraries.
