Gold Silence Book 2
Gold Silence Book 2
From there, things had escalated, until my absent-my-whole-life dad, Zahid, whom I looked more like than Mom, had shown up and told me we were descendants of the Egyptian goddess Selket and needed to return an amulet to an alternative Egypt called Post World at the risk of dropping dead without warning. Bonus, Whistler carried some of the amulet’s power after my vengeful also-absent-my-whole-life grandparents, Fadila and Naim, had tricked him into absorbing it. Mind blown again, they’d been his foster parents when he was a child somewhere in Nebraska.
After hearing about that whole mess, Cliff and Sheridan, a very tall trainer for advanced fighters at the gym, (not to mention exceptional flirt), had volunteered to absorb power too so they could buy us more time before dropping dead and help us return the amulet. But my grandparents wanted revenge on Zahid because they blamed him for my aunt’s death, who’d died in Post World year’s before, and so she tried to take his daughter away, me, by sending me and the guys into Post World without a guidebook that had been passed down from generation to generation.
Gold Silence is the second novel in the series about a teenage (or young twenty-something) Egyptian-goddess descendent named Selk who must return a stolen artifact to an alternate dimension called Post World where all sorts of strange things tend to happen non-stop. Along with the love-of-her-life, Whistler, and a collection of other young college-age students and boxing enthusiasts, Selk sets out to return an artifact she missed in book one.
Selk experiences pain and blackouts, and the trip to a new Post World is her only cure. Pursued by unknown assailants and travelling in the company of the original Tutankhamun along with her gang of friends, Selk faces all sorts of perils, mummies, and very strange monsters. Her boxing ability comes in handy.
Gold Silence is told in an almost steady style reminiscent of a teenage stream of consciousness with the action reminding me of a nightmare galloping out of control. A large dollop of romance and angst is thrown in for good measure.
