Mummy & Me: A Monster’s Tale
Mummy & Me: A Monster’s Tale
After a good day's sleep, we prepare for the night.
We have an early evening snuggle before getting out of bed.
Then I put on my clothes. And Mummy makes sure I look extra sc-hairy!
In this engaging and delightful "night"-in-the-life-of tale, a young, preschool wolf describes how he and his mother, suitably called "Mummy", spend their time together. He joins her in exercising, making a "midnight stew" for lunch, and calming down by playing their favourite songs. The familiar rituals, such as cleaning messes and brushing teeth before bed, are not just routine but also make for a fun and relatable experience. And, of course, Mummy and the wolf sleep in a coffin. As with most young children, the wolf's admiration and love for his mother are evident.
Cheery, cheeky, and charming, Mummy and Me presents a unique take on the typical bedtime story. Its concise and clear language makes for a fast read while the colourful illustrations, staying within a night-time palette of royal blues and rusty browns, add to the visual appeal. Some of the pages even project a Maurice Sendak-like flair. This book is perfect for a Halloween display, but its heartwarming story and engaging illustrations make it a suitable addition to year-round collections.
